Staying at your Affordable House and Lot during the Holy Week (Part 1)

Your Home during Holy week

This article is the first part of the three-part series: Staying at the Comforts of your Home during the Holy Week.

Holy Week—some would see it as a long weekend where they could strengthen their relationship with God, some may use it to go on a vacation, or even reunite with their family. One thing’s for sure, Holy Week for 2020 is not going to be the same as the previous years.

With the community quarantine in effect, Filipinos will be having a hard time moving around cities and plans with friends or family may need to be rescheduled. Secondly, crowding in malls, churches, or any public spaces for that matter, is highly dissuaded.

Nonetheless, one shouldn’t be limited in celebrating their Holy Week, and you can still make the most out it at home. Here are some activities that you can do over the weekend in the comforts of your home.

General cleaning at home

Now that you have all the time to yourself at home, you can finally do what you’ve always put off: Cleaning your house.

Ah! The dreaded task! You may have procrastinated and always told yourself that you’ll tidy your house up “one day,” well, today is the day!

As famous organizing consultant Marie Kondo says, “Tidying orders and relaxes the mind.” Cleaning your house shouldn’t merely be thought of as a chore. Think of your home as your ideal private space. If it is untidy and full of clutter, would it still be described as your ideal private space? If not, then cleaning your house should relax you as you turn it into your ideal space.

Now, to start cleaning your home, identify the space or objects in your house that needs to be cleaned or organized.

This could range from your study table, your closet, the corner in your house that’s stuffed with random objects, your room in general, and more.

After that, choose the best cleaning method and prepare the necessary items.

Will you need to remove dust? Prepare your vacuum or brush and dustpan. Need to wipe surfaces? Prepare a damp cloth. Need to declutter? Prepare an empty box to fill it with objects that you’ll be getting rid of.

In organizing items, consider items that are of value; try to discard items that are invaluable or deemed not useful. You could separate things that you would still opt to keep and then place the discarded ones in a box. You may even have a friend or family member that may make use of your discarded items. According to Marie Kondo, if you are discarding an item, say a little thank you to the object as a way of saying goodbye. This way, you could properly end your relationship with your belongings without being guilty.

With all these steps done, you will surely be able to clean, organize, and have your ideal home—a simple, elegant, and clean private space for yourself, and Bria Homes knows the importance of having your own private space. Bria Homes offers multiple elegantly designed homes that are affordable for Filipinos from all walks of life.
